Nice art, confused thoughts

Another Confused GermanWell, here we have the detailed art of another confused German who foisted bad ideas on humanity. Just another example of what happens when we do not start with God's Word as the only source of reliable, inerrant and sufficient truth. And, yet, even this man's bad thoughts could not stamp out the image of his Creator, as he created this finely detailed piece of art. Does anyone know who the author is? He is most famous for another set of drawings that led to a famous biological theory of human embryological development that was used to support the newborn theory of evolution. Can anyone post the drawings here? Does anyone know the phrase that was coined regarding his theory of embryological development?

All answers are available with little effort on the internet.

Wow! That was interesting and educational. I found this link: zygote.swarthmore.edu/evo5.html

Would the phrase be evo-devo? (I guess that is more of a word)!

That was fast, fleur. Well done. Enjoy, everyone. Maybe somebody could post a copy of the actual drawings.

The phrase is comprised of three long words:

O------- R------------ P--------

and it means that our development inside the womb retells the supposed evolutionary development of the human species. The embryological drawings have been impugned by many as tampered with and fabricated intentionally by the man in question.

Okay, since noone else has jumped in, I guess I'll finish it off! The phrase is 'ontogeny recapitulate phylogeny' and I never would have gotten it without your extra clue! I am like a fish out of water here, not knowing much about the subject, but finding it interesting nonetheless.

Earnst Haeckel is the name of the confused German in question. Future posts will look at the impact of his false theory on the development of the field of psychology.

I will be interested to read more about this. Very interesting. It seems like I do remember a slight bit about Haeckel when I took classes in college. I remember the discussion about tailbuds...but that's about it.
