What's your MPG these days?

It use to be a man was defined by his career.  "So, what do you do for a living?  Professional stunt man?  Impressive?  Grizzly Bear skinner?  Tough.  Zamboni driver?  Lucky dude.  Oil boy for the Hawain Tropic calendar girls?'

Umm, ok, you get my point.

What happened to those wonderful conversations when our identity was soley tied to how much money a man made, where he sat between 9-5, and what his business card said?

Now a man's identity strictly revolves around MPG, miles per gallon.  I hear it everywhere these days.  "So what you driving there a ugo?  What's the mpg?  68miles per gallon...wow!  Me?  SUV, 1.2 miles per gallon."

No matter where I am I can't get around or away from the dreaded question.  Instead of being afraid of the career question I am now trying to dodge the mpg question.

That's it, I am trading in the trophy wife, the high salary career, and exchanging the H2 with spinners with a supped up Prius.

Sure, I may look like a dweeb driving around in a tin can but I bet my MPG will beat yours and this is really what matters right?

I doubt it!  I did an experiment last week and didn't drive over 55mph at all, anywhere, yes, even on the interstate.  45mpg.....get you some.

Tomorrow, I begin shutting off the engine and coasting down hills. It's hypermiling, baby! At normal operation, the '91 Civic gets 36 mpg. On this tank, I'll shoot for 60!

I switched from a big truck which got less than 15 mpg to a smaller truck which averaged 23 mpg last week, mostly city driving.  My extended family needs a truck or I would get something even better . . .

If I am driving on the interstate with an average speed of 4.9 Gigameters per lustrum, my vehicle gets about 32.5 fathoms per teaspoon!!

Funny, I felt like punching someone who argued his choice of a Matrix over a Mazda 3 was a good idea because of the fuel economy.

Bah, pick a GOOD car and drive it like you stole it. :)

Uuhh, Wesley's a geek...

In my circle of mommies, we are talking ppg - that's 'price per gallon' of milk! Ya'll I got a tank of a boy who can down some whole milk! Everyone's so distracted by mpg that the dairy farmers are quietly jacking up the price of heffer lactation. It's all an evil conspiracy by the mustache people.
