Zach's Riddle (That's me)
Friday, December 29, 2006 10:10 PM
I have invented my own Hunt and Puzzle. I thought I would wait til they were both started before I posted about them. Here are the details.

Z-Toc.com Hunt

This is the latest one I am working on. It will begin on Wednesday January 3, 2007 after Ten Hunt (9:45 PM EST to be exact) I will also release a "practice" hunt tomorrow at 5:00 PM or so. Basically, you will have to complete 5-15 rounds (havent decided how many yet) after you finish them, you will fill out a form and if you submit first or second (and meet all the requirements) you will win one of two prizes. Go to this link to check out the rules (which is a requirement to play, and maybe useful to complete round 1...)
It would be at z-toc.com, but the site is not up and running yet (still waiting for a password...)

Zach's Puzzle
This one is more of a "for fun" puzzle. It consists of picture puzzles, word puzzles and some thinking. However, there are no prizes for completing the puzzle, its there for fun!! Check it out here. There is currently no answer to level 19, after the Z-Toc.com  Hunt, I will add more levels. Always check the homepage (that link) for updates on how many levels there are.

Have fun and Good Luck!! (also, you can post your questions about the puzzle below, and I will try to answer them)
TenHunt Statistics and winners
Thursday, December 28, 2006 12:24 PM

If you are missing TenHunt this week like me, then you may be interested in looking at what I have been wasting my time doing :)

I compiled the top 20 lists and winners from all TenHunts so far. (Click on attachment below to see it)

Also, last TenHunt there were approximately 280 people who finished the 10 questions - and they were apparently approximately 27% of those who began the hunt. Mikeytag - feel free to correct any gross errors! These are very loose approximations only! But of interest to me is how the game is growing - potentially 1000 people logged on and began the last hunt, and of the Top 20 I personally recognise 12 names as Steeple Players. That's pretty amazing!

Next TenHunt: Wednesday, January 3rd at 6pm PST (9pm EST)

Once again, if you haven't yet signed up and would like to be included in any Steeple draws please use this link  (There will be a drawing for one iPod Shuffle Wed Jan 3rd BEFORE TenHunt at around 8:30pm EST)

See you Wednesday and Happy New Year!

Dominos - Anything Goes Deal
Thursday, December 28, 2006 11:36 AM
Thanks to Tom for this tip to a new game from Dominos pizza.  There aren't a lot of details yet but apparently you will be able to find and buy a bunch of great stuff including a new car for $9.99 on ebay after solving a series of clues.

The website for the game which starts on 1.1.07 can be found at http://www.dominos.ebay.com/

The answers to Dominos Anything Goes Deal will be posted here as we solve them.  You have to be quick though, only the first person gets to buy the ebay item.

Treasure Hunter's Ship is Sailing Again
Monday, December 18, 2006 2:00 AM
Most of you knew that I was sick for the past week, and for those of you who missed the memo, you now know.  I wasn't able to move far from my bed nor wanted to, and that is the explanation for my absense without notice.

During my countless hours of sleep I thought of a bunch of blog topics, none of which I'll ever get around to writing about, although I may write a post on the "posts that never happened" or something like that.

But enough about me and more about Games since this is the Games blog.  Tenhunt last week, three people won the raffle prizes and that means I won three referral prizes as Mikeytag mentioned in his comments on the previous post.  That means I have to raffle off three ipods to three people.  This will be done 30 minutes prior to the next TenHunt on Wednesday in the chat room.

Glad to be back and look forward to seeing you then!

TenHunt : MSN Holiday Challenge : Prague Files
Tuesday, December 05, 2006 12:32 AM
I have been hard at work trying to give SteepleMedia a fresh look and have consequently neglected my typical posting schedule.   I'm back today though with some updated informatoin on the weekly game, tenhunt, as well as some information on a new MSN sweepstakes and lastly some information on the Prague Files.

I'll keep this post short for you. First, the Ipod nano that is being shipped to me from TenHunt will arrive tomorrow (thanks guys!).  I will not be keeping it but instead I will forward it on to its owner.  Don't worry though, we now have 28 people on the Steeple raffle list so someone will be getting a prize sooner or later.  The updated list is as follows (if you are not on this list but want to be included in the raffle when we win, then either create a new account and use my referral link or email mike ^ tenhunt.com):

fleur_de-lis        scoutmom        jenneads
Natski            kimmertrout       NTheBushes
Goldguy167     tcrowe325         ltlhuzz
USALT1     chemicalmouse      kellyjoco
Winnie            bluhoteyes      scubagoldrush
zapperzapper   aislin123          nickvh1984
Randbot           sandygriv            terid
lovegold          Laanakita1       JustHunting
slbergh            agres10245        wlappas

Also, don't forget to invite your friends and use my referral link, remember the bigger this gets the more prizes that are available and the more referrals we have as a group the more chances we have to win.  I am also going to recommend to Mike at TenHunt to make challenges twice a week because it is painful to wait a whole week to play again.  What do you think?

The new MSN Game called MSN Holiday Challenge can be found here.  It looks pretty dull and will end up in a random drawing but if your feeling lucky it doesn't take long to complete. I'll try and keep up with the MSN Holiday Challenge answers but no promises (maybe if your playing you can pitch in on the comments).

The only commentary I have for The Prague Files is that the game started today and I still haven't been paid.  I was going to play the game but since I don't have any money, I guess I'll just have to sit this one out.

TenHunt - Security Flaw Corrected (Please Read)
Friday, December 01, 2006 7:51 PM
If you read my last post on TenHunt you know that I spoke of a security flaw.  I emailed Mike from TenHunt and he sent the following response back to me today:

I cannot thank you enough for your email. I found out the problem, here are the details. The first requirement to recreate this bug is to be logged in under a username. Doesn't matter which one just logged in. The next step was to hit a refer link twice. Why twice? I still am not entirely positive seeing as how I didn't personally write the refer functions. Anyways, once you hit the link twice you will then be logged in as the person who referred you.

The problem has been remedied and I have personally verified that it does not happen anymore. If you notice any bugs in the future please let me know.

As a thank you, Walt and I would like to send you an iPod Shuffle for finding this bug and notifying us so quickly. What address would you like it shipped to?

Thanks Again,
Mike

Now, I do have a confession to make.  I didn't actually find the bug, rather another Steeple member found it and I passed it along to Mike with some additional information.  Therefore, I will not be keeping the iPod personally.  I am going to find out if the person (who will remain anonymous for now) that told me about the flaw wants the iPod.  If they don't want it (possibly because they are wealthy and have 30 iPods already) then I will raffle it off to someone from Steeple as our first TenHunt prize raffle.  I'll let you know what happens.

TenHunt - New Online Treasure Hunt With Great Prizes
Friday, December 01, 2006 3:39 PM
Last night we played TenHunt for the first time as a community. Everyone had a blast even though we were far from achieving a fast finishing time.  The game is easy to play and even gives folks on dial-up a decent shot at winning.

The format for the game is as follows:  You are given ten riddles that are related to various web pages on the Internet.  You have to surf to the different websites to decipher the riddle and find clues that will lead you to the answer for your current level.  You must correctly answer the questions in order (1 before 2, 2 before 3, so on and so forth...) until you complete the 10th question (level).  The fastest to finish wins the prize.  But don't fret if you are slower because there are also consolation prizes given away to random folks who finish the challenge before the deadline (5+/- hours), so you don't have to be the fastest to win.

I've spoken briefly with the Mike from TenHunt.com who assures me the game is legit and the prizes are real.  I am still a little skeptical (as are the folks from techcrunch) but I trust him enough to recommend the game to those reading this post.  This is a fun game with or without prizes so you will enjoy it even if you don't win anything. My favorite feature is the head to head game play style.  While you are answering each of the 10 levels/questions of the game you can see exactly where you stand compared to your competitors.  You can also view a leader board that shows the top five players and what level they are currently working on.

We also discovered a security exploit yesterday through the referral link process.  It seems as though one can gain access to another's account through by using their referral link.  I have contacted one of the developers of the game and I am waiting for a response back from him.  When I hear word that the issue is resolved I will notify you as well.  For now, I would suggest not entering your phone number and address into your profile as they could be easily stolen without your knowledge.

Please signup for the game using my referral link which will make you eligible for the Steeple raffle if another Steeple member should win the drawing.  Look forward to seeing all of you next Thursday in chat.  Make sure to go back and look at the previous rounds questions and answers as it will help you to solve the new questions faster.  We will be posting all of the answers to TenHunt on this blog as well.
