I just got back from the movie - and it was just FABULOUS!!!!!
It does not disappoint in any way - I got everything I was hoping for.
There are the laughs, the tears, the drama, the love, the sisterhood, the Carrie-isms - her little catch phrases she makes up.
It was a delight. This is coming from someone who enjoyed watching when I could but pretty solidly missed the last 2 seasons. If you ever watched an episode and enjoyed it, you will love this movie. It really didn't matter that I hadn't watched in years - there is a very painless few minutes at the beginning which summarizes everything very nicely for you.
Of course if designer names make you go weak at the knees, then you have probably already pre-purchased your tickets! There is one particular scene, where Carrie is trying on some old clothes from her wardrobe that is just priceless - it will stir up memories and make you laugh at the same time.
The premiere itself was FUN! I breezed right past the 200 hopefuls out in the street, right to the man at the front with the little pink list, gave my name and off we went, to my seats, marked with my name. On the seats were gift bags (I will unpack that for you later and tell you what's in it!) and posters, as well as a nice cold bottle of Vitamin Water.
Local radio and newspaper personalities were there to rev us up even more with contests and prizes. They gave out a $250 Juicy Couture bag to a girl who whipped her bra off the fastest, a $500 Nicole Miller dress to the girl who faked the best orgasm, and another Juicy Couture bag with diamond stud earrings to go along with it to the girl who was able to put a condom on a banana, take it off, then eat the whole banana. No, I didn't get chosen to compete for any of those.
They also had an after party where they were giving out Manolo Blahnik shoes.
An awesome night and a fabulous movie! Go see it!
