Extreme Sculpture...Part 1

 Willard Wigan, a British sculptor, is known for making the smallest works of art on earth. This type of art is known as micro-miniature art and can fit on the head of a pin, or in the eye of a needle. Willard makes these minute creations from grains of rice and sand, and paints them with a hair from the back of a fly! He says that to avoid hand tremors he has learned to control his nervous system so he can work between heartbeats, and breaths.

To view his works, you need to look at them through a microscope, but strangely enough, Willard doesn't use one to do the carving. Just thinking about the concentration and skill it would take makes my head hurt. Talk about focus....!
