By the Numbers for my TKR by fleur_de_lis

Alright, a quick post after an absence of a few days. I am home recuperating after a total knee replacement. Here it is, by the numbers: 1 orthopedic surgeon, 1 total knee replacement 12 red roses 1/2 mile covered with my walker (a new word in my vocabulary is walkering--I no longer run, skip, trudge, limp or even plod--I walker)! 5 blue latex gloves, blown up into balloons by the grandsons 40 staples to hold my knee together 40 pain killers 3 physical therapists 10 sets in each group of leg exercises 1000 frequent flyer miles so as to be surprised by a visit from my son 8 gallons of gas used by my daughter in her chauffeur duties for me 21 blood thinning shots I have to inject myself :( 100 miles away from home 4 nights of prepared meals brought into us by friends 2 TEDS anti embolism stockings 1 pampering husband, 1 fussing mother, dozens of prayer and thanks sent up to God. And good grief, Joe, I am afraid I just couldn't get into your Whack the Patella game!

Favorite Kung Fu Panda quotes! by fleur_de_lis

What a funny movie! Here are some of my favorite quotes from it and as always, be sure to add your own. Po: Careful, that soup is - sharp! [serving a noodle bowl to a customer into which he accidentally pitched a throwing star.] Po: Skadoosh! (This is my new favorite word)! Po: There is no charge for awesomeness...or attractiveness. Tai Lung: You...you're just a big...fat...panda! Po: I'm not a big fat panda. I'm *the* big fat panda!

My New Pastimes.... by fleur_de_lis

Well, I've been looking for some new ways to occupy my free time and opted for some creative solutions to keeping in shape (for the most part)! I found this one absolutely fascinating! Bog Snorkeling! Yes, racing through muddy water is just my thing.... I also liked this sport, polo has always been so upper class! ...but I haven't found anyone to be my partner. For those of you living in Tennessee, there is a Zorb course near Knoxville! Zorbing looks right up my grandson's alley, but I think I'll pass. I don't like being dizzy. Bossaball looks like lots of fun, though! Chess Boxing looks rather rough.... This one would probably really bring out my housewifely talents--extreme [ironing] .... But in the long run, I think I am made for this one--Glamping. Ah yes, glamorous camping--now that's the one for me.

Favorite 'Mummy' quotes! by fleur_de_lis

The newest installment in the 'Mummy' series will be here August 1. It's called 'The Mummy-Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' and looks like it takes place in a tomb similar to that of Emperor Qin's pottery army. I always enjoyed Brendan Fraser and his roles in 'The Mummy' and 'The Mummy Returns' so I thought I would do a few favorite quotes from those two shows. Feel free to add your own as we go along! My all time favorite one is: Evelyn: Look, I...I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure-seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell, but I am proud of what I am. Rick: And what is that? Evelyn: I...am a librarian.

Fleur de Lis Frenzy! by fleur_de_lis

Yes, my fellow bloggers, I went 'shopping' again for a new fleur de lis wardrobe, and got caught up in the bargain hunting frenzy. Here is what I found for myself: I think they are rather appropriate, and they go well with my new hat: While I was at it, I found this throw for Sandi--actually, I know she likes cats, so that's why I picked this item: For you, Krupo, I chose this cake--I know you love good food! And Joe--you seem like a guy who could use a new pen--and you know the pen is mightier than the sword ;) Let's see....B8 for you i found some nifty bookends... BJ, everyone needs a hose holder--how about this one? (hose included) ...you can use it to fill up this item I got for your wife, Human Blogger: Uncle J, our resident gentleman, here's a knight for you, my chivalrous friend! Wesley, I found this wonderful door bell for you! (I know, pretty lame) ...unless you'd rather have the belt buckle: Zach--you get this cool rug to do your exercising on: Fluffy...

Favorite Indiana Jones quotes! Final Round by fleur_de_lis

Here is a last bunch of favorite quotes for you. As always, feel free to add your own! Belloq: How odd that it should end this way for us after so many stimulating encounters. I almost regret it. Where shall I find a new adversary so close to my own level? Indiana: Try the local sewer. Willie: There are two dead people out here! Indiana: We're going to be two dead people in here! Hurry! Indiana: Since I've met you I've nearly been incinerated, drowned, shot at and chopped into fishbait. Professor Henry Jones: You said he had a two day head start. That he would blend in, disappear. Indiana: Are you kidding me, I made all that up, you know Marcus, he got lost once in his own museum.

My New Bedroom.... by fleur_de_lis

Yes, it is another cheesy post--literally. I decided to hire someone to remodel my bedroom for me, and this is what he did to it! That'll teach me to leave anyone else in charge! Mozzarella and cheddar everywhere! Here is what my chair looks like.... And he even went so far as to 'decorate' my husband's jacket! Thank God my dog wasn't in there with him.... This installation was actually made by the artist Cosimo Cavallaro in 1999 in a hotel room in NYC. Cosimo is an extreme artist with extreme ideas that do not appeal to most people. In fact his work is irreverent, distasteful, and heretical if you ask me. This is one of his mildest, and I really do enjoy looking at it in a 'good grief!' kind of way. Here is a link to his cheese [house] that he did in Wyoming with 10,000 lbs. of pepperjack--inside and out! Be careful exploring past this site, his other works are not the most pleasant.

Favorite Indiana Jones quotes! Part 2 by fleur_de_lis

That movie is less than 3 weeks away! I know I plan on seeing it right away. Have you collected any of your favorite quotes from the previous ones? Here are a few to start you off--please add yours to the list, I know you have some! The more the better. Walter Donovan: Germany has declared war on the Jones boys! Indiana Jones: Dad, you're going to have to use the machine gun. Professor Henry Jones: I didn't know you could fly an airplane. Indiana Jones: Fly, yes. Land, no.

Lion's Teeth by fleur_de_lis

Everywhere I look these days I see dandelions. Several are wilting away in my kitchen, courtesy of my grandson, and I am reminded of the original meaning of the word. Dandelion comes from the French words 'dents de lion' which mean lion's teeth! Even a grubby, pesky little weed can have an interesting history!

My New Handiwork... by fleur_de_lis

Every once in awhile you have to change it up a bit and so I decided to redo my dining room and living room in one of my favorite things ever--chocolate.... Do you notice the painting in the background? I did it Jackson Pollack style with melted dark, milk, and white chocolate flung onto a masonite base. Here is a closeup of my dining room table liberally covered with bonbons of all sorts. I especially like my chocolate candles. This is what my new living room looks like. Don't you just love the Lady Godiva chocolate creation on my back wall? And look over the fireplace! It is my all time favorite romantic painting--The Kiss by Gustav Klimt! Here's a better view of my chocolate creation The Kiss. I used the gold wrappings from the chocolates to create the gold robe. And finally....Ta Da! A close up of my new fireplace. Any and all of you are welcome to come for a visit (as long as your names are not Hansel and Gretel). I am anxious to show off my new handiwork. Godiva chocolates...

My New Summer Home.... by fleur_de_lis

Yes, my husband and I have been looking for a summer home and we have found a few that appeal to us. This one is probably my favorite--I've always enjoyed The Hobbit! And it would go well with my new car, too! My husband prefers this one, he has always enjoyed fishing.... I like solitude, and we do enjoy getting away from it all. Here we would have no worries about unwelcome guests coming to visit, but I do want a deck so....maybe not. Actually, with our budget I believe we will have to go a tad bit cheaper, so we will probably end up taking one of these units... I like the nifty red and white one at the bottom---they have a deck, greenhouse off to the side, and a pond (or is it a pool?). What more could you possibly want!

I am a waa-waa... by fleur_de_lis

Yes, I am going to be a waa-waa...And I blame it on those bloggers to the north of me on this blog page for sending their vile germs my way! I just spent 4 days in the hospital with pneumonia after being in perfect health for over a year, and I didn't like it. Waaaa! So it may take me awhile to catch up with what everyone has been doing and to get blogging again. Missed you one and all. Fleur (no longer wheezing, hacking, and coughing)

Handimals! by fleur_de_lis

These are so amazing! They are painted by an Italian artist named Guido Daniele. He is classified as a hyper-realist, and expresses himself on the human body. Enjoy! Here is a link you can go to to see more examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ8c4W3Ovx0

The Smell of the Snow by fleur_de_lis

I lost my brother last week. Until the very end, he cherished each moment he had. He loved his wife, he was dedicated to his work at their foundation and sanctuary for rescued dogs, he was cherished by his friends and family. In my very last conversation with him, he talked about his secluded life high atop a mesa south of Santa Fe. The peace he felt, the brilliance of the moon shining in the windows, the smell of the snow. Oh, my brother, we miss you so...you truly lived a life that made a difference.
