  • Half Life 2: Orange?

According to the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, the upcoming adaptation of Half Life 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3 has been renamed Half Life 2: Orange. Valve’s HL2: O will include Half Life 2, Episodes One and Two, Team Fortress, and Portal. To me this package seems like a must buy, but isn’t the title a little “fruity”?

  • Burger King Sells over 2 Million games (Poor Europe)

Yes you read the title correctly; Burger king has sold over 2 million copies of their games featuring the king in less than four weeks. These promotional items seem to be a favorite among gamers. Of course at about 4 bucks a pop, it’s not that surprising. These games include pocket bike racer, sneak king and big bumpin’ all of which are rated “E” But what I found extremely funny was the fact that these games were created by Blitz Games: one of Europe’s largest independent game developers, but they cant be played In Europe because they are region locked to North America.
  • Halo 3 Video documentary

A video documentary made by Bungie will be made available 2am PST today, this is the first in a series of shows that aim to explain the new features and the game play in Halo 3. A few snippets of information: • There are no finished graphics in the documentary, and everything you see is a work in progress. • This will be available initially only on Xbox Live Marketplace. • They will make another, non-marketplace version available relatively soon. • It runs for seven minutes. (Coincidence??!!!!!!!) This episode is about the main enemy in Halo 3, (now that the elites have formed a sort of alliance with the humans) the Brutes. This is a work in progress and therefore will be nothing like the finished version,

  • Hitman Movie

When it comes to movies and video games, it has been shown they need to remain separated. Most game adaptations of movies are disappointing and uninventive. However the counterparts, movie adaptations of games, have been simply horrid. I had hopes the halo might kill this vicious cycle of torment for entertainment lovers but with delays on that; Hitman may be our best hopes. Originally set to star Vin Diesel as the legendary Agent 47; however, recent news has shown that part will likely be played by Timothy Olyphant, the sheriff on the HBO series Deadwood. Either way, this movie will have to shake the burden of horrible adaptations. My suggestion, don’t get your hopes up and wait for reviews before you check this film out. Release could be as early as next fall.

  • Halo 3 Ad!

Last night on Monday night football, a new Halo 3 advertisement was aired on TV. After downloading it and watching it on the Xbox Live Marketplace, I felt it left a lot of questions to be answered. The 60 second video begins with two small children, a boy and a girl who are around the age of 5-8, lying down; staring at the stars under a night sky. They seem very relaxed and wondering if anyone is watching the Planet; wondering if there is life on Earth. It appears to be set well before the Halo Universe, as Humans already live on numerous planets. The girl then says “will we ever meet them?” “I hope so.” The boy replies. The camera then focuses back on the girl’s position, and a clear change occurs. The girl’s body is replaced by a helmet, Master Chiefs’ helmet. A scream is met with a completely different change of scene: it is as white as day, and there is little or no grass anywhere. Still there is no face though, as the Chief’s hands claw back at his helmet while explosions, laser beams...
  • Why to watch Monday Night Football

This Monday, two of the most colossal juggernauts in the history of entertainment will collide on TV, and I’m not talking about any football teams. Halo3 and Monday Night Football are coming together push the publicity. Halo3 will be airing a 1min trailer during the game. The trailer will not be live game play, but a mix of live action and computer generations. Also that Monday, you will be able to register to beta test halo3 at www.halo3.com . Personally, I can’t wait. Hopefully I will be able to beta test the game and tell you all more about it when the beta is released this spring.

  • HDDVD vs. Blu-ray Disc and its impact on the system war

For those of you old enough to remember, this is a repeat of VHS vs. Betamax. The two are fighting to become the adopted system within our households. I’m not going to go into technical details analyzing wavelength scan speeds for the sake of keeping this simple. From what I understand, Blu-ray has more potential than HDDVD; however, it is not as cost effective at the moment. The video game industry has a large stake in this. Microsoft and Sony have begun to try to peddle their system as being able to play High definition movies. If one format folds, the system that has supported that system may be in for a world of hurt (PS3 has Blu-ray disc drive built in, while the 360 has an attachable HDdvd drive). My advice wait till this highly expensive equipment, next-gen DVD players, has become more cost effective and when we know which system will be the new betamax and which will be the next VHS.
