    The People of China

I have a passion for the Chinese people.  I am not referring to Communist China, but the people of China.  God has interestingly wrapped his arm around these people and has upheld their identity for thousands of years.  Their language has changed very little since its beginning.  God has mysteriously blessed China with large pieces of land and a huge population.  I pray for China and for my Chinese graduate friends often.

I have been thinking lately about God's Law and Western thought pertaining to the Bible.  China has not shared in the Reformation, the Age of Enlightenment, the Roman Catholic heresies, or the democratic styles of government.  So how does the introduction of the Chinese people into the People of God pan out with our current conversations going on in other posts?

    Re: The People of China

Let us say God makes me a Joseph to the people of China, and I was allowed to advise the chariman of China.  What advice would I give?  Of course, I would reference the principles in Moses' Law.  Specifically 16 points:

    1. Everyone's person is to be secure
    2. Everyone is to be secure against slander and false accusation
    3. No woman is to be taken advantage of within her subordiante status in society
    4. Punishment for wrongdoing shall not be excessive so that the culprit is dehumanized
    5. Every citizen's dignity and right to be God's freedman and servant are to be honored and safeguarded
    6. Every citizen's inheritance is to be secure
    7. Everyone's property is to be secure
    8. Everyone is to receive the fruit of his labors
    9. Everyone is to share the fruit of the ground
    10. Everyone, down to the humblest servant and the resident alien, should have at least one day of rest from work
    11. The marriage relationship between a man and woman should be upheld and honored
    12. No one, however disabled, impoverished or powerless, is to be oppressed or exploited
    13. Everyone is to have free access to the courts and is to be afforded a fair trial
    14. Every person's God-given place in the social order is to be honored
    15. No one shall be above the civil law, not even the chairman
    16. Concern for the welfare of other creatures is to be extended to the animal world

B8 is probably flipping out and scratching his head trying to figure me out ...

Let us say that the chairman rejects these ideas.  Would God then curse China?  That is difficult to say.  Why?  Because as you scroll down that list you will notice that throughout China's history they have neglected many of these principles.  Today, the Communist Party almost rejects all of them.  Yet, God has not judged China.  He has upheld them!
