Yes it is, but if you haven't guessed already, I like the large massive heavey weapons that kill in one blow! LOL! If I get into a fight, I don't want a long drawn out duel. I want to kill the other guy with one blow, over, done, no need waste time. LOL! Skill doesn't matter when the other guy has a weapon twice the weight and size of your own!

Always mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy, if possible; and when you strike and overcome him, never give up the pursuit as long as your men have strength to follow; for an army routed, if hotly pursued, becomes panic-stricken, and can then be destroyed by half their number. The other rule is, never fight against heavy odds, if by any possible maneuvering you can hurl your own force on only a part, and that the weakest part, of your enemy and crush it. Such tactics will win every time, and a small army may thus destroy a large one in detail, and repeated victory will make it invincible." - Stonewall Jackson

That's why "The Look" is so very effective.  One shot is all you need with no extra weight to slow you down!

ROFLOL! That's the deadliest weapon! LOL! And only mothers poses it! LOL! They have special equipment. LOL! "the look" and "mom radar" the mom radar only works within a 60 ft radius though, after 60ft, you can do whatevever you want! LOL! Within 60 ft, well, you can't even think something without her knowing it! LOL!

What if I have a rapier that is about as long as your two-hander and about a quarter the weight? I could rush in and run you through before you even lifted your sword. That would be one way of ending it with one blow! Provided that you didn't have the strength of William Wallace, in which case there would probably be two halves of the guy in front of you! LOL!

The William Wallace swords always did seem very cumbersome. You would think that a smaller sword would be more effective. I guess in a hand to hand fight the smaller sword would work better, but in a battle, the WW sword would work good for just running around and lashing your enemies down.

Yes, indeed! Just keep swinging it around in a circle and you can hold a big section. Then if a few guys get inside your guard, it has the leather on the blade so you can hold it there and it becomes a much smaller, faster sword.

Well my friend, if I didn't have armour on, I would naturally choose a lighter weapon, but with a good coat of mail, I would have your head in 2 seconds!

But wouldn't a hard thrust go through the mail?

    Re: 2nd Ammendment

I have seen a traditional bow and arrow shot from castel go straight through a strong coat of mail that was set up in the field in front of the castle. I can't remember the distance but it was pretty far. Of course I guess being far away helps the arrow gain speed enough to go through the armor. I am just stating that the whole armor can be penatrated if the weapon is hard and fast enough. I don't know what would happen with a sword though.

    Re: 2nd Ammendment

What actually happens, is that the distance helps the arrow fly straighter which helps it get better penetration. When armor began to be very well made, they started using maces more, because the force of the blow would be very damaging even if it did not penetrate the armor.

    Correct!

ACB, an arrow is verry different from the sword, Justin knows what he's talking about when he made the above post. And an arrow shot from a long bow, well, it worked VERY WELL!!!

And Justin, about your other post, "wouldn't a hard thrust penetrate?" Yes, LOL! But you can penetrate anything with a hard enough thrust! The probolm is, making the thrust hard enough! It probably would on average, unless I had a good coat of mail, but if I were to take you on like that, I wouldn't use the broad sword, I would use the halberd! Smile And as far as the wieght, I wouldn't be abble to strike as quick, or parry as well, but if I did strike, a good down ward blow, you would have to move pretty quick! And if you were just a fraction of a second too slow, sorry, but you're either dead, or wounded very badly. Big Smile

    Am I getting annoying?

Ok, I have a little time now. What is a "good" coat of mail? Riveted chain mail? Yeah, I guess I would have to make myself pretty scarce in the general area of that sharp steel! LOL!
